顔と選挙 Face and Election

 　選挙について、『東洋経済on-line』が興味深い記事をあげた。

　これがなかなか的中していると思う。わたしは高市某の顔は醜悪だと思うし、嫌いな顔である。最近示し始めたあの笑顔も嫌いである。今迄は笑顔なんか見せずに、高慢ちきな顔を示していた。それは高市某がどんな政治家であるかを知っているからである。

　ところが、昨年の総裁選挙頃から、メイクや服装を変え始めた。虎があの縞模様を消して、大人しい牛のような 様相を、表向きはし始めた。

　政治に関心のない人たちは、その変貌にすっかりとだまされたというか、熱狂した。もちろん、自由民主党が多額のカネをだし、SNSやテレビ、新聞、チラシで、変貌した姿を大量に流したからである。政治に関心のない多くの人びとにとって、選挙は一大イベントである。そのイベントに参加する彼らは、日常的な「推し活」的な行動をとった。

　彼らは、自由民主党のビラに書かれている内容なんか見ない。

　わたしはみた。

「日本列島を強く豊かに」という文字がある。しかし日本の経済を弱体化し、貧しくしてきたのは、自民党である。そして裏を見ると、「強い経済で、笑顔あふれる暮らしを」とある。経済を弱くし、国民から笑顔を奪ったのも自由民主党である。次、「地方が日本経済のエンジンに。都市集中の壁を超える」というのも笑止千万である。「都市機能の移転」が叫ばれていたときでも、自由民主党は東京一極集中政策を推進していたことが近年明らかにされている。そして「国際社会の分断の壁を超える」？トランプの分断政策を全面的に支持しているのも、高市自民党である。トランプのペット、トランペット・高市と称される所以である。

　そして「人口減少の壁を超える」だって。結婚し、子どもをつくりという、今迄の暮らしを破壊してきたのも自由民主党である。 

　 政治的リテラシーのない人たちが、高市の自由民主党に「熱狂」し、「推し活」をしたのである。

　だが、高市の顔にウルトラナショナリストが隠されているのを、政治に少しでも関心を持っていた人びとは知っていた。選挙が終わったとき、わたしのラインに、自由民主党圧勝の報に驚いた友人たちから、日頃政治の話をしたことがない人たちであったが、今後の政治や生活を心配する声が多数届いた。

　記事に、「笑顔」が得票率を上げるという記述があった。なるほど、自由民主党の悪政に抗する政治家たちは、統一教会べったりの裏金利権政治家らの集まる自民党を厳しく批判していたが、その際、笑顔は見せられなかった。笑顔で批判する人は、そんなにいない。いかに自由民主党の政治が、人びとを苦しめ、偏狭な宗教団体とくっついているかを、厳しく問うていた。厳しく批判していた候補者には、票は集まらなかった。政治的リテラシーを持たない人びとから注目されなかった。これはきわめて悲劇的なことだ。

世界の人びとは、高市率いる自由民主党政権が、平和な国際秩序の破壊に、トランプと一緒になって駆け回る姿を見ることになるだろう。

For many people uninterested in politics, elections are a major event. Participating in this event, they engaged in everyday “fandom-like” activities.

　They didn't bother reading what was written on the LDP's leaflets.

It said, “Strengthen and enrich the Japanese archipelago.” Yet it was the LDP that weakened Japan's economy and impoverished the nation. And on the back, it stated, “A strong economy for lives filled with smiles.” It was also the LDP that weakened the economy and robbed the people of their smiles. Next, “Making regional areas the engine of Japan's economy. Overcoming the barrier of urban concentration” is utterly laughable. Even when “relocating urban functions” was being advocated, it has recently become clear that the LDP was pushing policies for Tokyo's one-pole concentration. And “Overcoming the barrier of division in the international community”? It's the LDP's Takaichi who fully supports Trump's divisive policies. That's why she's called Trump's pet, Trumpet-Takaichi.

　And then there's “Overcoming the barrier of population decline.” It was the Liberal Democratic Party that destroyed the traditional way of life—marriage and child-rearing—in the first place. 
 

People lacking political literacy became “frenzied” over Takaichi's Liberal Democratic Party and engaged in “fan activities.”

But those with even a passing interest in politics knew the face of an ultra-nationalist lurked behind Takaichi's. When the election ended, my LINE feed was flooded with messages from friends—people I never discussed politics with—expressing shock at the LDP's landslide victory and deep concern about the future of politics and their lives.

　The article mentioned that “smiling” boosts vote share. Indeed, politicians resisting the LDP's misrule had harshly criticized the party—a gathering of backroom power brokers cozy with the Unification Church—but they couldn't muster smiles while doing so. Few people criticize with a smile. They were rigorously questioning how LDP politics oppressed people and aligned with a narrow-minded religious group. Votes did not go to the candidates who offered such harsh criticism. They failed to capture the attention of people lacking political literacy. This is profoundly tragic. 

The world will see the Liberal Democratic Party government led by Takaichi running alongside Trump to destroy the peaceful international order.
